Alton Utter Sr. Dies Suddenly At Fort Plain FORT PLAIN — Alton Utter Sr., 61, proprietor of Utter's Restaurant on Main Street, Fort Plain, was stricken shortly after arriving at the restaurant at 5:30 this morning and died suddenly. Dr. Albert Sentochnlck, acting as coroner's physician, stated that death was caused by a heart attack. Residing at 9 Kellogg Street, Fort Plain, Utter was born in Maryland, N.Y. on Aug. 18, 1903, the son of Luinskl and Roseanna Barrett Utter. He had operated a bakery in Canajoharie until 1938 when he moved to Dolgeville and was employed as a baker. In 1939 he moved to Fort Plain and worked as a chef until 1955 when he opened his own restaurant at the present location. He is survived by his wife, the former Florence E. Kling; seven sons, Alton Jr., Rye, N.Y.; Larry, residing In Nelllston; Phillip, St. Johnsville; William, Chapel Hill, N.C.; Richard, Memphis, Tenn.; Robert, Hamburg, N.Y.; and Jerold Utter, who lives at the Kellogg Street address in Fort Plain. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Rosanne Ehle, Rochester; and Mrs. Eleanor Morris, Menands; two sisters,- Mrs. John Walker, Salt Sprlngvllle, N.Y.; and Mrs.Ruth Topp, Cherry Valley; 18 grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
