Obituary for Edna M. Sarty

Edna M. Sarty, age 96, lifelong Coweta resident went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, August 14, 2014 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home with her family at her bedside. She was born on October 5, 1917 in Coweta, OK to Thomas Madison and Minnie (Jones) Dunlap. Edna was a 1935 graduate of Coweta High School. She and Homer Sarty were married in December of 1935 in Coweta, OK and he preceded her in death on May 21, 1993. She was a homemaker for most of her life. Edna was a member of Davis Chapel United Methodist Church in Coweta and VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America). She enjoyed garage saleing, playing bingo, fishing with Homer and she loved visiting with people. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Minnie Dunlap, her husband, Homer Sarty, her son, Garry Wayne Sarty, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 son-in-law, Bill White, 1 grandson and 1 granddaughter. Edna is survived by 7 children, Bert Sarty and wife, Roxie, of Fayetteville, NC, Norma Jo White of Stillwater, OK, Patricia M. Widdowes and husband, Jerry, of Coweta, OK, Carol Doss-Withers of Coweta, OK, Homer David Sarty and wife, Pam, of Anna, TX, Shannon Gale Kraemer and husband, Shane Focht, of Checotah, OK and Leslie Crutchfield and husband, Dennis, of Coweta, OK; 25 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be from 12 PM - 6 PM on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home. An Indian Wake Service will be at 6 PM on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 PM on Monday, August 18, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Coweta, OK with Rev. Bernadine Dowdy and Rev. Ben Ewing officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Alan White, Kyle Crutchfield, Bryan Heath Sarty, Todd Kraemer Jr., Douglas Doss, Keith Doss, Garrett Sarty, Shawn Slavin and Walker Clarke. Travis Withers will serve as a Honorary Pallbearer.
