Ami Oakley was born Oct 12, 1866 in Springville, Utah, the son of James DeGroot & Ciscelia Lane Oakley. He married Amanda Amy Wing, daughter of Joseph Smith & Sarah Adelia Wright Wing, on April 16, 1889 in Provo, Utah. They were the parents of three children: Reed Ami, Blanche Ethel & Sara Oakley. Ami died Jan 10, 1951 in Springville, Utah.

UTAH RANCHER 84, SUCCUMBS

SPRINGVILL (Special)-Ami Oakley, 84, Springville stockman and farmer, died late Wednesday at the residence of a daughter, Mrs. Sarah O. Nielsen, Helper, Carbon county, of a heart ailment.

Mr. Oakley was born Oct 12, 1866, in Springville, a son of James and Cecillia Lane Oakley. He attended Hungaford acdademy here.

He married Amanda Wing in April, 1888, in Springville and they resided here.

Survivors include his widow, Springville; two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Graves, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Nielson; nine grandchildren, one of whom, Mrs. Myrell Banner, Springville, Mrs. and Mrs. Oakley reared; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Louis N. Oakley, Provo, and a half-brother and a half-sister, Ernest Oakley and Mrs. Loreta Sumsion, both of Springville.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in Springville Fouth ward chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by Frank Barrett, bishop.
