Mom died peacefully at home on June 28, 2014. She had been struggling with health issues for some time and her heart just could not take it anymore.

Mom was born in Trenton, N.J., on Aug. 17, 1928, to Exaterina Boldenko and Pawel Layri (Lowrik/ Lawrick). Shortly after her birth, the family moved to a small mining town in West Virginia. There she would grow up with her siblings, Alexander and Helen, graduate from Logan High School (class of ‘47) and start her new adventures.

Mom worked at the Hutchinson Mining Co. (Payroll Dept.) and that is where she met Jim Sexton. They were married in Ashland, Ky., on April 17, 1948. She would never work outside the home again. Soon after they were married, they started their family.

Trips were made to and from W. Va., to Butte, several times until mom resigned herself to the fact that Butte would be home and there she would raise her family. She did not like the long cold months. She always thought a large family of boys would be wonderful but she had to settle for three boys and three girls. Tragically, we lost our brother, Jim at a very early age.

Mom was a very busy woman. The siblings were spaced several years or more apart so she never slowed down for quite some time. She was a Girl Scout leader for Connie, Janet and Karen and also a Cub Scout leader for Mark. She loved her church. We joined the Presbyterian Church in 1959. She was very active until earlier this spring when her health got worse. She was a deacon and her circle group was Anna. She did Bible school for many, many years. Mom lived for camping and fishing and this is what the family did for so many years. She enjoyed volunteering her time. She put in a lot of hours with United Way. They did a very nice article in The Montana Standard on her and her dear friend, Arla. Mom loved to sew, knit and crochet. Her work was beautiful and perfect. She also loved books. Books were passed back and forth for years. She was so looking forward to the next election. She wanted so badly to vote for a woman and put Hillary Clinton in the White House. She kept saying, “We are so close.”

Mom was preceded in death by her son, James Martin II; her brother, Alexander Lawrick; and sister, Helen Sansom. Immediate family survivors are – husband, Jim (married 66 years); son, Jerry Sexton of Billings; daughter, Connie (Steve) Laramie of Post Falls, Idaho; son, Mark (Kaye) of Dickinson, N.D.; daughter, Janet (Lee) Walth of Spokane, Wash.; and daughter, Dr. Karen Stewart (Todd) of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Grandkids are Scott (Karen) Laramie, Jim (Birgit) Laramie, Matt (Brandi) Laramie, Amanda (Kris) Koessl, Jacob (Meredith) Baumann and Shannan (Eddie) Sanchez. Great-grandkids are Kaitlin and Hannah Laramie, Madison Mogen, Autumn and Camden Hunter, and Samuel Baumann.

Cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be buried at 2 p.m. Friday,

Aug. 15, at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Helena. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, in the Presbyterian Church.

Donations can be made to the Butte Emergency Food Bank.
