Georgia Kunkel, 85, of La Porte passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 7:08 a.m. at IU La Porte Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Patterson officiating. Viewing will be held on Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home.

Georgia was born March 7, 1926 in McLainesboro, Illinois to the late John and Hattie (Mayberry) Biggerstaff.

Surviving is one son: Larry (Toni) Kunkel of La Porte; two sisters: Helen Sullivan of Rockford, IL and Nancy Roth of Bradenton, FL; special friends: Lee & Bill Lykins and Lucille Goodwin; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death is one brother Edsel Biggerstaff and special friend Betty Hazel.

Georgia retired after 55 years as a machine operator at Bromwell.

She was everyone's friend and always wanted to lend a hand and help people.

Memorials may be made to the Michiana Humane Society.
