Antonia "Toni" Lupardus, our beloved “Mommy” went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2014 with her loving family by her side.
Toni was born on April 6, 1922 in Ojo de Vaca, NM to Ramon and Manuelita Martínez.
Toni was a beautiful, meticulous woman who took pride in her family. Toni had a passion for arts and crafts and also loved to shop. Toni had an outgoing personality and was always determined to stay strong no matter the situation, even up to her last days with us. Toni was a hard worker who always maintained two jobs.
In the 1950s and 1960s she was employed at Singers as a saleswoman, bookkeeper and she taught sewing. Toni also managed The Burro Alley and El Paseo Theaters for three decades. Toni was later employed for Dillard’s for many years in the 1980s. “Mommy” touched our lives in so many ways and she is going to be missed dearly.
Toni was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Manuelita Martínez, husband, Fred B. Gómez, son, Tommy Gómez, daughter, Patricia Gómez, grandson, Kevin Martínez, great-grandson, Andrew Martínez-Sisneros, sister, Guadalupita (Pita) Gonzáles, brothers Eddie, Mike, Fidel, Eloy and Henry Martínez, in-laws, Ted and Thelma Lupardus and son-in-law, Gilbert Silva.
Toni is survived by her husband, Buckley, of 44 years, children, Erica LeRouge, Amanda Lupardus (Jonathan), Phyllis (Pinky) Montoya (Matthew), Priscilla Silva, Peter Gómez (Dolores), Chris Gómez (JoLene), step-children, Lois Jeanne, Mark, Brent and Mitze along with their families, sister, Belle Biernes (Edward) and Margaret Lucero, sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Martínez, Laura García and Cynthia York, sons-in-law, Horace Martínez and Lenny LeRouge, her dear friend, Louisa Martínez, 14 grandchildrenm 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the caring support provided by Mary Lou and Dina of Hospice of New Mexico and staff.
All services will take place at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 1120 Canyon Rd., Santa Fé, NM on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 beginning with a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. followed by Celebration of the Mass. Interment will follow at Rosario Cemetery.
