Josephine Baker was the youngest of the four children born to Joseph Thompson and Nellie (Middaugh) Baker in Colfax, Washington where Josephine received her early education in the Whitman County schools.

The Baker family relocated to Port Angeles, Washington in 1935 and Josephine completed her education at Roosevelt High School.

Jo was first married on June 5, 1942 to Edward R. Lauridsen; they divorced. They had one surviving child, a daughter Marilyn J. Lauridsen born in January 1945 who died at age 5½ in August 1950.

Jo second married Claude Jacobs, Jr. in 1954; they divorced.

Jo third married Willard J. Martin (no information available).

Died at age 54 years, 11 months, 17 days.

Jo is the granddaughter of America Holton (Thompson) & Daniel Ayres Baker of Colfax, Washington; a gr-granddaughter of Mary Elizabeth (Ford) & Capt. Joseph Moran Thompson of Wabash, Indiana; and a gr-gr-granddaughter of Dr. James & America (Holton) Ford of Wabash, Indiana.
