Mr. Aaserude was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Arvilla, N.D. At age 13, he moved to Salem, and later graduated from South Salem High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Navy. He married Fern Sharp on Aug. 24, 1981, in Vancouver, Washington.
Mr. Aaserude worked for Boeing in Seattle before moving back to Salem, where he worked a variety of jobs before retiring. After living in Detroit Lakes, Minn., he and his wife moved to Bend for four years. He moved to McMinnville in 2003. He enjoyed playing guitar, and played with Bootleggers Express for 20 years. He also enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Douglas of Beaverton; three daughters, Debbie Jensen of Eugene, Becky Albert of Salem and Lori of Yakima, Washington; a brother, Merle of Salem; a sister, Betty Ann Neuman of Bend; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
