Born in North Dakota, he worked as an auto mechanic there until 1950, when he moved to Salem. He worked for the City of Salem, retiring as the head mechanic in 1980. His wife, Mabel Irene (Olson) Aaserude is deceased.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore, N.D.
