Red Rogers, 64, of 703 West Elizabeth, a longtime Waco musician, died Wednesday at a Temple hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Wilkirson-Hatch Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Otis Watson officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park.
Mr. Rogers was born in LaRue and attended schools in Malakoff, Cross Roads and Post Oak. He was married to Erline Wilkinson in 1950, moved to Waco in 1958 and operated Waco Barber College for two years before opening his own shop.
He played with several country and western bands in the Waco area and performed with the late bob Wills and other "western swing" performers. He was director of the Brazos River Festival's fiddlers' contest earlier this year.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Waco Music Association.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Virginia Wagoner and Mrs. Sandra Carter, both of Dallas, Mrs. Bonnie Harrington of Plano and Miss Suzanne Rogers of Waco; three sons, Lewis Werner of Ozona Park, N.Y., and Ronald Rogers and *[James Upton "Red"]* Rogers, both of Waco; two sisters, Mrs. Faye Ford of Dallas and Mrs. Joyce Tidwell of Fort worth; three brothers, Melvin Rogers of Lubbock, Willie Rogers Jr. of Grand Prairie and Hilly Rogers of Dallas; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
