Fr. Dobberstein's Mother Dead

On Friday, Sept. 21. 1923, Mrs. Julia Dobberstein passed to her eternal reward. Mrs. Dobberstein, was born Sept. 22, 1841, in Gross Wittenberg, Proving West Prussia, Germany. She came to this country about twenty-four years ago and then made her home with her son, Rev. P. M. Dobberstein at West Bend, until eight years ago, when she decided to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. J. E Hermeling of. Minneapolis, where she also died. Deceased was the mother of eight children: Rev. P. M. Dobberstein of West Bend; Mary deceased; Bernard, of Carroll, IA, Angelica, deceased; Anna, now sister Amaden, member of the Franciscan order of LaCrosse, Wis.; Martha, now Mrs. J. E. Hermerling of Minneapolis, Helen, now Mrs. Louis Berning of Milford, Iowa; Leo Dobberstein of Minneapolis.

The remains were shipped to West Bend and interred in the Catholic cemetery on Sept. 24, where she was laid to rest by the side of her husband who died about eighteen years ago. Her son, Rev. P. M. Dobberstein sang the Solemn Requiem High Mass and also conducted the burial services. He was assisted by Rev. T. J. Davern as deacon; Rev. O. P Sweeney as subdeacon and Rev. P. M. Sturm acted as master of ceremonies: Other friends present in tlie sanctuary were: Very Rev. Steve Buttler of Carroll; Rev. P.J. Warzawa of Carroll; Rev. G. J. Theobald of Rolfe; Rev. J J. Neppel of Mallard, R«v. C. J. O'Malley of Emmetsburg; Rev. A. J. Forester of Carroll and Rev. J. D. Fiscli, of Wesley, who also preached a beautiful sermon on the duties of a good Christian.

The pall bearers were John Derner, John Deninker, Martin Csukker, John Montag, (rest of the paragraph in the newspaper is unreadable)

The nearest relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Hermerling of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Berning and children of Milford; Bernard Dobberstein and son Bernard and daughter Martha of Carroll and Mr. and Mrs Leo Dobberstein of Minneapolis.

A large gathering from far and near attended the funeral, which was a sign that she was a lady who was loved and respected by all who knew her.
