Florence - McLendon L Stone, 62, of 1508 Waverly Avenue, died late Sunday night in the Saunders Memorial hospital after a long illness. He had been a resident of Florence for the past 12 years.

Mr Stone had been a resident of Florence for the past 12 years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning from the Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church, near Effingham. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mr Stone was born in Florence County June 30, 1888, the son of the late Chalmers L and Ella Poston Stone. he was a member of the Lebanaon Free Will Baptist church, a former superintendent of the Sunday school, teacher of the men's Bible class, deacon and treasurer of the church.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs Lillian Golden Stone of Florence; three daughters, Mrs Wylie Timmons of this city, Mrs Dewey Kirby of Effingham, and Miss Ellavene Stone of Florence; three sons, foster M Stone andf Wilbur C Stone of Florence, and Vernon Stone of Rock Hill; two sisters, Mrs John Powell of Johnsonville and Mrs C Z Hicks of Claussen; three brothers, L M Stone of Phoenix, Ariz, Leo Stone of Laurinburg, NC, Charlie Stone of Laurel Hill, NC; and ten grandchildren.
