His mother was Jane Kernell, age 85 listed in the article . Harry and his brother John Kernell (b. 1860 Phil, Pa, d.Dec 1903, Detroit, MI) teamed up as performers. John's wife was Emily Vivian, one of the three sisters in Vaudeville. She survives him.
Harry Kernell married his first wife Kittie O'Neil and they divorced in 1880. Harry married his second wife, Cecilia MacMahon, better known by her stage name of Queenie Vassar, (1870-1960) born in Glasgow, Scotland. They were divorced by 1892. They had two sons, Harry Kernell (1888-1953) and William Kernell (1891-1963) the composer. Queenie, Harry and William are all buried at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, California.
