Elizabeth was the only daughter to Sophia and Hennery Kester. She also moved to Chicago with her brothers after the death of her mother in 1893. She worked for Ill Bell phone co, as a operator till her death in 1929. She never married because a DR. had performed a surgery without her permission. So she was not able to have children. For this reason she did not marry, as most farmers wanted children to help on the farm. She was a very kind and loving lady who liked children. She was very kind to my mother and always brought a gift for her when visiting. She lived with a relation in 69th st in Chicago. They had a 2 flat and charged her rent, but also had her door housework for them! In the Mokena public library, I have donated her 8th grade memory book. It is signed by her classmates, brothers and cousin. All from the first generation of the first settlers of Mokena.
