Josephine "Jo-Anne" E. Trippany, 75, of River Drive, passed away on July 28, 2014 at her home surrounded by her children and her extended family, all of whom loved her dearly.

Friends and family may be received on Thursday July 31, 2014 from 3-8 p.m. at Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday 10:00 a.m. August 1, 2014 at St. Mary's Church with Rev. Mark R. Reilly presiding. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Jo-Anne was born on December 30, 1938 in Massena the daughter of Dominick and Josephine (Trimboli) Carbone. She attended St. Mary's School and graduated from Massena High School. Prior to her marriage Jo-Anne worked at ALCOA, she married William Trippany on April 25, 1960 at St. Mary's Church, William predeceased her on July 2, 1993. Later she taught Physical Education at Holy Family High School and was the coach/adviser to the cheerleading team. The family lived for a time in Libertyville, IL, where Jo-Anne worked as a realtor. When the family returned to Massena, she was employed for over twenty years by the St. Lawrence Seaway as Human Resource Assistant retiring in 2007.

Jo-Anne is survived by her sons and a daughter, Terry M. of New Lenox, IL, Todd W. and Valerie Moscoe Trippany of San Francisco, CA and Danielle L. Doty and husband David of Schaumburg, IL. Jo-Anne treasured her grandchildren, Kelly, Becca, John, Taylor, Cassidy and Kendall. She is also survived by two sisters and a brother, Marie C. and Robert Regan of Potsdam, Stephanie and Ralph Thibault of Massena and Joseph Carbone and companion Christine Goodman of Skaneateles; and several nieces, nephews and cousins all of whom delighted in her presence.

Jo-Anne enjoyed reading, cooking, playing cars, particularly "Texas Hold em" and visiting the casino, but most of all she valued spending time with her family and friends. A woman of immense strength and courage, Jo-Anne was known for her resourcefulness, loyalty, sardonic humor and love of life. Her passing will leave an irrevocable void in the lives of the many who loved her.
