Delbert Russell Dworschak of Molalla passed away on Jan. 12, 2006. He was 97.

He was born on Oct. 12, 1908, to John Frederick and Anna (Kister) Dworschak. Delbert was raised on the family farm that his father purchased in 1893.

He lived on this farm for most of his life and was proud to receive Century Farm Designation in 1993.

Delbert attended Eby School with his twin sister Della. In his early years, he worked with his father on the family farm and worked for neighbors as well.

On Sept. 15, 1938, he married Helen Walch. They had four children: Roger, Sylvia, Myrt and Lucy. Delbert and Helen recently celebrated 67 years of marriage.

He helped establish and was a charter member of the Molalla Church of the Nazarene. In later years, he worked for Avison Lumber Mill from which he retired in 1974. He spent his retirement years enjoying his farm, family and serving the church. He is remembered for singing, storytelling, culinary specialties, love of life, wonderful gardens and generosity with his produce. He remained strong and active into his early 90's.

He is survived by his wife Helen, of Molalla, daughters Sylvia Olson (Marv) of Richland, Wash., Myrt Lundy (Elwynn) of Nampa, Idaho, and Lucy Beringer (Mike) of Salem; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Johnny, Willie and Earl; and sisters Freda Burley, Nora Marsh and Della Burley.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 16 at the Molalla Church of the Nazarene.
