Ellen was born to Jacob Albright and Anna Dunlap in 1840. She was third of seven children born to Jacob and Anna.

Ellen was first married to Fletcher (first name not known), with whom she had a son Albert (b. 1857). Her second marriage was to John S. Snyder. They had a son Charles M. Snyder (b. 1869). At the time of her death, she was married to William J. Cunningham. They had married on March 28, 1879 and had one son, William A. Cunningham (b. 1880).

Sadly, eighteen months after the birth of her son William, Ellen died of "an overdose of choroform" in 1881, as noted in the American Mechanics Cemetery record. The Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper article that reported the accident, indicated that she "for the past week had been complaining of pains in her head, and to obtain relief, used chloroform treatment."

Ellen's address at the time of her death was 1836 North Front Street in Philadelphia.

Her death date and burial in American Mechanics Cemetery are documented in the Philadelphia Death Certificate Index. Ellen was originally buried in Div B, Sec 30, Lot 24 and re-interred in 1884 in the Jacob Albright plot in Div F, Sec 2, Lot 24, Grave 3. The Albright family burial locations in this cemetery can still be seen in the original books (Permit number 11274, card number 6441, page 398).

In 1951, the AMC cemetery was purchased by the Philadelphia Housing Authority for the purpose of building on the location. The remains in this cemetery were removed in 1951, and the Raymond Rosen Housing Project was built.

In August of 1951, Ellen Albright was re-interred in the Philadelphia Memorial Park in Division F, Section 2, Lot 24 with her parents. The site is marked with a surface marker reading "ALBRIGHT".
