Albert Jorgensen, Jr., 91, son of Albert Jorgensen and Ruth (Readinger) Jorgensen, Sr., was born May 13, 1923 in Guthrie County, Iowa. He passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa.
Albert graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1941 and attended 1 year at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. He then enlisted into the Army Air Corps serving in World War II. Following his discharge from the service he married Darlyne Blake on May 13, 1945 in Gray, Iowa. They made… their home on three different farms, all north of Guthrie Center, for the next 20 years before moving into Guthrie Center. Albert then worked as a rural mail carrier for 30 years. Following his retirement, they moved to Texas for the next 20 years, then to Albuquerque, NM for 5 years. Around 2011, they moved back to Guthrie Center. In November of 2013, they became residents of the Lakeside Village, Panora, Iowa.

Albert enjoyed playing baseball and softball in his younger days and then watching baseball on T.V.
He was a member of United Methodist Church, Guthrie Center and the Omar B. Shearer American Legion Post #124, Guthrie Center.

Albert is survived by his wife, Darlyne Jorgensen of Panora; daughter, Lindy Smith of Albuquerque, NM; two grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-granddaughters; sister, Cheryl (Darwin) Hughes of Guthrie Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Dorothy Kreft.
