Ruby Liudahl, 99, of Maddock, ND passed away July 20, 2014 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, ND.
Ruby was born in Albert Township, rural Maddock, on June 21, 1915 to Garfield and Alma (Sigmaunstad) Peterson. She graduated from high school at B.C.A.T.S. in 1933 and attended college at Minot State Teachers College for one year. She taught in rural schools for two years and married Reuben M. Liudahl from Esmond in 1937. They were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Maddock. They lived in Maddock, ND four years then spent four years in Kenmare and three years in Enderlin, ND before returning to Maddock, ND. Her husband died in November of 1959. Ruby continued his Insurance Agency for 23 years and was a grade school secretary for four years. Then, business manager at Memorial Hospital for ten years.
Ruby was a member of North Viking Church and was an active member of WELCA. She taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting and visiting with her friends.
Survivors include four sons: Wayne of Overland Park, KS, Curt of Fargo, ND, Robert of Maddock, ND and Tom of Blaine, MN; five grandchildren: Aaron, Eric, David, Andrea and Claire; nine great grandchildren; brother-in-law Robert Hunter of Maddock, ND; sister-in-law Shirley Liudahl of Devils Lake, ND plus several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and four sisters: Gladys Bery of Walker, MN, Dorothy Carlson of Kenmare, ND, Bernice Reese of Fergus Falls, MN and Arlene Haukness of Detroit Lakes, MN.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 2:00PM at the North Viking Church of rural Maddock, ND.
