Lewis Lansdown, the son of Samuel Stokely Lansdown and Hester Ann (Miller) Lansdown was born May 27, 1922 in Squires, and departed this life Nov. 25, 2005, at the age of 83.
Lewis was a resident of Ava for the past 19 years moving here from Rogersville. He was a farmer and a custodian for the Missouri State University. Lewis was a World War II veteran. He loved coon hunting and playing pitch, but most of all, spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Lewis and Julia Mae Davis were united in marriage June 29, 1946, in Mtn. Home, Ark. Lewis and Julia were blessed with two daughters.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers, Troy, Abner, Marion, Leroy, and Martin; and four sisters, Bessie Schindler, Oma Davis, Eunice Turner, and Ada Graham.
He is survived by two daughters, Shirley Atchinson and husband, Herman, and Sheryl Medlock and husband, Billy, all of Ava; grandchildren, Russell and Jaime Grider, Erin and Benjie Hurd, Robin and Gary Mitchell, Lori Grider and Heath Grider; great grandchildren, Dalton Grider, Benjamin, Adam, and Briar Hurd, Kevin and Ely Mitchell; one brother, Ira Lansdown, Midway, Ark.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 2 pm Tuesday, Nov. 29, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Tom Johnson and Oren Alcorn officiating. Interment was in the Murray Cemetery.
Military graveside services were conducted by American Legion Post #112 and V. F. W. 5993.
