The Memorial services For Patrick R. "Pat" McEwing, 54 of Enid will Be held 2:00 P.M. Friday July 18th, 2014 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. Patrick was born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 6th, 1960 to Ray Dean & Mack McEwing, and passed away July 15th, 2014 in Enid, Oklahoma. Patrick grew up in Hugo, Oklahoma and graduated high school there in 1978. He attended Carl Albert Jr. College in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. After college he worked for the Department of Public Safety as a driver's license examiner for two years, and later, eagerly applied & was accepted "first try" to become a member of the elite Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy. Patrick went on to complete the academy with an unstoppable determination to fulfill his dream & become a State Trooper. He graduated the academy in 1991 with highest pride and commitment to the badge. He would serve an honorable 20 years with the force before retiring. Until his death Patrick took great pride in memorializing his career with an entire collection of memorabilia from his years of public service. It was his life's great work. On August 5th, 1990 Patrick became a father for the first time with the birth of his first daughter, Shawna Anne. He would later have the pleasure of experiencing the same joy with the birth of his beloved daughter Tori LeAnne on September 21, 2001. Until his death Patrick enjoyed making trips to spend his days with Tori fishing , catching turtles and doing anything outside. He adored his time spent with her. In 2010 Patrick married the great love of his life, Michelle McEwing. They were joined in marriage in Las Vegas, Nevada during a fun family vacation that included Michelle's daughters Amber & Stephanie. Patrick spoke many times of the "large family he never had" in Michelle, her girls, their two son-in-laws Mike and Chris, and the five grandchildren they were blessed by. Some of his favorite times were taking family trips together and camping at the Great Salt Plains in their camper. Above all Patrick loved his family. He will be missed by all that knew him. Patrick experienced the ultimate peace when he joined his heavenly Father on July 15th, 2014. He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Michelle McEwing, both his daughters Shawna Hammond and her husband Timothy, and Tori McEwing, his sister, Gwen McEwing Chance, his aunt, Delores Mitchell, his daughters by marriage Amber and Stephanie with their respective husbands, Chris Amason and Mike Schatz, seven grandchildren, Reagan & Baylor Amason, Connor, Carson, & Max Schatz, and Lydia Smith & Isaac Hammond, and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Dean & Mack McEwing, and his nephew, Travis Joseph Morgan II.
