This is dedicated to my grandmother, Anne Stringer Drennan. She truly was an extraordinary woman. Most think I say that cause she's family...that's not true. She dealt with many problems throughout her life, yet she pushed through them all using her strong will. Despite all the hardships she faced, she never ceased to help people either. When her son, my Uncle Jimmy, was a police officer, she cooked for his fellow officers, even offered her own home to children Jimmy was helping. Though the loss of her first born son to SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), her husband leaving her to live alone with her mother on the south side of San Antonio with her four boys, the decline of depression, and the loss of her eyesight, she persevered. Even in the end, she pushed on. The life support machines were turned off at 6 pm on September 5...she remained alive until 10:16 am on September 6 where she passed on in the company of two of her sons, Jimmy and Troy. Even in death, she continues to help us through our trials through the memory of her long fight through life and how she persevered no matter what got thrown at her.
