James Robert Letcher was an unmarried teamster who had been in the district for 16 years and in Flagstone for three months when he died. He was the son of Thomas Letcher (born in England) and Emma J. O'Rourke (born in Nova Scotia). The informant was Thomas Letcher of Flagstone.

A gloom of sadness spread itself throughout Roosville Valley, Flagstone and Fernie when the sad news of the death of Jim Letcher became known. He died at his father's ranch in the Roosville Valley last week. He was well known in Fernie, where he was a member of the Teamsters Union. We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the whole family in their hour of sorrow.
Gone, dear son, bu tnot [sic] forgotten,
Mother's heart is with you still,
But Jesus loved you and He knew better,
To take you home to Heaven to dwell.
