NAMPA — Services for Mrs. Nellie G. Armstrong, 77, of 315 Thirteenth Avenue South, Nampa, who died Sunday at a Caldwell nursing home, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Alsip Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Ernest E. Wilson of the Nampa First United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Canyon Hill. She was born July 15, 1897, at Gem, Kan., and came to Caldwell in 1900. She grew up in Caldwell and married Lawrence E. Spencer on April 4, 1915. They lived at Caldwell until 1943, when they moved to Portland. They moved to Nampa in 1952. He died in 1953. She married Thomas L. Armstrong at Winnemucca, Nev., in 1954. He died July 16, 1968. She had lived in Nampa since 1952.
She attended the Methodist Church. She was a member of the Nampa Valley Grange; Colfax Rebekah Lodge No. 24; associate member of Pansy Rebekah Lodge No. 37 of Middleton; past royal matron of the Golden Dawn Court of Amaranth No. 1; deputy supreme royal matron of the Yukon, Royal Neighbors of America; Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Auxiliary No. 23, and Order of Eastern Star, Rainbow Chapter No. 80.
Survivors are two sons, Thomas H. Spencer of Eugene, Ore., and W. John Spencer of Newport News, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Cross, Nampa, and Mrs. Hazel Swedlund, Bowmont; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A son, Lloyd, died in 1958, and a brother, Basil, also preceded her in death.
