Frances Darlene (Backhaus) Jepsen, 81, passed away on July 14, 2014 in Broken Bow, Nebraska at her home in Heritage Hall. She was surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born to the late Henry and Iona (McElhaney) Backhaus in Torrington, Wyoming on April 17, 1933. Frances attended grade school and graduated from Torrington High School. She married the late Burton Eugene Jepsen on November 22, 1953 in Torrington. They later moved to Chappell, NE where she worked in the Chappell Public Schools cafeteria. In 1986 Gene and Frances returned to Torrington where she lived until 2005 when she moved to Sargent. She loved her family, daily devotions, butterflies, watching the birds and putting together puzzles. She is survived by three sons: Robert and Malinda Jepsen, Blair, NE; Richard Jepsen, North Platte, NE; Ronald and Terry Jepsen of Sargent, NE. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Aaron and Muriel Jepsen, Omaha, NE; Christopher Jepsen, York, NE; Lynn and Misty Jepsen, Ogallala, NE; Michael and Angie Jepsen, Loup City, NE; Brandon and LeeAnn Jepsen, Broken Bow, NE; Kimberly and Jeremy Howard, Hastings, NE; and Jason Jepsen, Chappell, NE. She had 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother and sister in-laws Jane Backhaus, James O'Brien, Evelyn Jepson. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and siblings and spouses: Evelyn and Sidney Rhoades, Margaret and Charles Wells, Jack and Laverne Backhaus, Fred and Betty Backhaus and by in-laws: Betty Mae O'Brien and Donald Lee Jepson. Govier Brothers of Broken Bow, NE are in charge of the arrangements. A Memorial Service will be held Monday August 4, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Holiday Inn Express 1700 East Valley Road, Torrington, Wyoming. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Torrington, Wyoming
