John C.Bradberry, 91,of Solsberry, passed away at his residence on Sunday, July 13, 2014. He was born on July 9, 1923 in Robinson, Illinois to John William and Miranda (Midgett) Bradberry. He served in the Army with the 555 Engineering Infantry division during WWII in Germany. He received two purple hearts and an oak leaf cluster. John worked at Diamond Chain in the Experimental and Research Dept., retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Old Union Laymon Baptist Church and Tri County Good Sam's Club. Mr. Bradberry enjoyed working on his old tractor, was an avid Colts fan, enjoyed watching NASCAR and wood working. He made a cradle for each grandchild out of native cherry and white ash.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Carol (Strader) Bradberry; children, Bradley (Connie) Bradberry of Mooresville and Cheryl (Daniel) Pickett of Jacksonville, North Carolina; stepchildren, Cynthia Parish of Bloomington and Tamela (Christopher) Tutterow of Ohio; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild expected soon.

John is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothea (Miller) Bradberry; son, Martin Wayne Bradberry, daughter, Dottie Marie Bradberry, a granddaughter, and seven siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Terry McDaniel will officiate. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Mooresville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Union Laymon Church.
