CHANUTE TIMES, JULY 13, 1906

DIED--At the home of her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Mitchell, Zella Richards on July 3rd, age 15 years, 5 months and 16 days. Zella will be missed not only by her home folks but by her classmates at school and Sunday school. Taking a great interest in all religious work she had the prospect of accomplishing great good in the future, but that dread disease, consumption, claimed her as a victim. Zella has gone from among us and we have every assurance that she has gone to that beautiful home, a house not made with hands but eternal in the heavens where Christ had gone to prepare a place for those that love the Lord. Let us ask ourselves the question as dear Zella did and be assured of the fact that there will be any stars in our crown. She was laid to rest in Earlton Cemetery. Rev. Chambers conducted the funeral service at the M.E. church.
She sleeps in death how sweet are her slumbers,
Away from life's conflicts, temptations and woes.
No fetters of earth the free spirit encumbers, Oh blessed are they who in Jesus repose.
