Edmund's 1st wife was France 'Fannie B. Thomas d/o William Thomas and unknown.
William Thomas (b-1780) was present in Perry County by early 1815 in time to be included in the list of taxpayers in June & July 1815. He was also a member of the first petit jury called at Troy on July 4, 1815. His unidentified wife died prior to the 1820 census. The first of William's children known to marry in Perry County was daughter Frances (1802) on 9 Nov 1820 to Edmund Polk. He was the son of Thomas and Catherine 'Leonard' Polk. They were the parents of one daughter, Lydia. On 26 Jun 1842 a Perry County marriage license was issued to Lydia Polke to Albert Richardson.
