It is unknown if Elizabeth Gamble came to America with John Keenan, or with her parents. She married John on July 11, 1872 in the city of Wheeling, West Virginia. They lived at 2811 Chapline Street, a house rumored to be built brick by brick by John himself. She became mother to David G.,born 12-19-1873, Daniel W.,born 8-10-1876,John Martin, born 2-25-1879,John, born 7-30-1880,Thomas James, born 3-19-1884( he is the father of Kenneth Hannan Keenan, my father) Elizabeth, 11-21-1886.Listed in the Wheeling Register as her obituary, it states: Tuesday, January 28, 1889, at 7:20 O'clock,Elizabeth, wife of John Keenan, aged thirty nine years, two months and twenty five days,. Funeral from her late residence at 2811 Chapline Street, Thursday afternoon at 2:30. Interment in Peninsula cemetery.Elizabeth Gamble Keenan died of typhoid fever at the young age of thirty nine, she left many children who needed her. Her husband was berift. She is still missed and remains a symbol of Irish determination in our hearts.
