Bertha Vanzant Baker, 96, of Mooresville, died Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Genesis ElderCare in Mooresville. Born Feb. 1, 1908 in Iredell County to the late Charles and Ether Robinson Vanzant, Mrs. Baker was a homemaker and a member of the Mooresville Church of God.
She was married to James Howard “Monk” Baker, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were a son, Donald Baker; brothers, Oscar and R.P. Vanzant; and a sister, Helen Maimone.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her son, Paul Baker of Mooresville; a sister, Mary Charles of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Jeff Baker and Paul Baker Jr.; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 1 at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John C. Miles officiating. Entombment will follow at Iredell Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Mooresville Church of God Building Fund, 520 Brawley Ave., Mooresville, NC 28115.
