Victoria Day Gewin was granted her eternal peace on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the age of 58, after a long and difficult illness. She lived the final days of her life with great courage, dignity and grace.

Vickie, as she was lovingly nicknamed, was born on April 27, 1956 in Baton Rouge, LA. She was the youngest child of James Clyde Day and Mildred Bates Day, both whom preceded her in death. She retired from the State of Louisiana after 33 years of service.

Vickie is survived by three sisters, Carolyn Moore Stafford, Virginia Moore LeJeune and Clyta Day Jenkins; one brother, Everette "Buddy" Moore; and a large extended family. Vickie and her family were blessed with two special caregivers, Annette and Andrea, who gave her such love and care. Special thanks to Health Management and Sleep Management, for their assistance in helping to maintain Vickie's quality of life.

Visiting hours will be observed at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, on Monday, July 7, 2014 from 12:00 Noon until service time. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Vickie was most passionate about supporting charities. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org), or to Disabled American Veterans, 602 N 5th St, Baton Rouge, LA 70802 (www.dav.org).
