Walker Adams
The news of Mr. Walker Adams' which occurred at 2:30 p. m. Monday, cast a pang of sorrow over the community. The cause of his death was heart disease.
Walker Adams was born in Ava, Onedia county, N. Y. , Sept. 12, 1822. In 1857 he left New York and settled in Wisconsin. In 1866 he left Wisconsin and came to Davenport and entered into the lumber business. In 1884 he was elected president of the Davenport Savings Bank and then retired from his other business, in order to devote his time to the interest of the bank.
Mr. Adams has always, by kind and pleasant manners, caused all who came in contact with him to like and respect him. For the last few years he has always spent the summer in traveling. This summer he visited England, enjoying the ocean voyage very much, and apparently was greatly benefitted by it. He leaves a wife and one daughter to mourn his sudden death. The funeral was held this afternoon with interment in Oakdale. The remains were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of friends.
