Mrs. Fassett's parents were among the early settlers and closely associated with the history and development of Franklin. Samuel Futhey Dale was one of the promoters and directors of the First National Bank of Franklin, the Venango Water Co., the Franklin and Oil City turnpike, the Venango Mills and the Galena Oil Refinery. Mrs. Fassett's grandfather, Judge Samuel Dale of Lancaster, had been deputy surveyor of Venango, Warren and Clarion counties which he divided into thousands acre tracts. He also subdivided the greater part of the Holland Land Co.'s property.
Those who heard her speak on the occasion of the Centennial celebration of the Presbyterian church will never forget the brilliant mind and tender memory that made those early years live again. A notable figure in every relation of life she is one whom all delight to honor.
