Meek A. Conkey, 55, of Ninevah R. D. 1, well known veteran of World War I, died suddenly at his home Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1954 at 3 a.m.

Born Feb. 12, 1890, at Smithfield, W. Va., he was the son of the late Thomas Conkey, and Jane Workman Conkey, who survives.

On Dec. 15, 1919, he married Wilda Clutter, who also survives.

A laborer, he spent most of his life in Greene County. He was veteran of World War I, serving with Co. K, 110th Infantry Regiment. He was a member of James Farrell Post 330, American Legion. Conkey also belonged to the Unity Presbyterian Church, at Graysville.

In addition to his wife and mother, who lives at Waynesburg R. D. 3, the following children survive:

Mrs. John Wolf, Washington; Thomas A. Conkey, Claysville, R. D. 2; Mrs. Acton Ealy, Washington; Mrs. Lawrence Crouse, Ninevah R. D. 1; and Louise, at home. Ten grandchildren also survives.

He leaves the following brothers and sisters:

Glenn Conkey, Graysville; Miss Edith Conkey, Cameron, W. Va.; Harl Conkey, Graysville; Carl Conkey, Barberton, O.; Mrs. Thomas Gazy, Cleveland, O.; and Mrs. Raymond Stewart, Oak Forest. Two other brothers are deceased.
