Eugene I. Harkness, 82, died at his home west of Belleville Saturday. The aged pioneer of Republic county succumbed to pernaicious anemia.
His was the third death in the pioneer Harkness family within the past three months; Mrs. Ed Forsha, a sister, died in Oklahoma in October, and his brother, George died here three weeks ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Harkness celebrated their fifty-fifth anniversary early this fall. His widow, one daughter, and two sisters survive.
