Their certain origins are unknown but circumstances indicate they or their father was from the "Keirle Triangle" in England as certain common Keirle names (e.g. Alfred, Mathew (with one T) re-appear in the American line. Married Charlotte Pindell. Interred (along with wife) in mausoleum of his brother John W Keirle (# 64414785), who had died in 1840 as one of the wealthiest men in Baltimore. After John's death, Mathew's fortunes seem to have plummeted. He eventually became a "bill collector" and his wife was later granted a widow's pension.
