Darlene Church

August 1, 1934 - June 22, 2014

Mrs. Darlene Church, age 79 wife of O.G. Church, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014 at NHC Hillview.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Elmer Lusk and Joe Macer officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on August 1, 1934 in Giles County, Darlene was the daughter of the late Allen and Mary Foster Gilliam. She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ where she taught Toddler's Class for over 30 years. Darlene loved her kids and adored her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and shopping, and she always had a smile on her face.

In addition to her husband, she leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter: Kim (Mike) Kinzer of Sawdust, TN; son: Jeff (Holly) Church of Birmingham, AL; sister: Norene Church of Spring Hill; and grandchildren: Emily Joy Kinzer, Kaelin Kinzer, Connor Church, and Carson Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Gilliam Hickman.

Pallbearers will be Dwight Hickman, Donnie Hickman, Kevin Church, Frank Church, Sam Baker, George Houser, Billy Ray King, Bill Jones, Jerry Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be the elders and deacons of Southgate Church of Christ.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at NHC/Hillview Nursing Home, Dr Cummings Couch and Karen Perry for their care for Darlene.
