Mary Jean Scott , Greenwood
Mary Jean Scott, 84, of Greenwood, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.
She was born June 30, 1929, in Bloomington, to Ralph and Anna (Gee) Mitchell.
She married George Scott Jr. on Nov. 22, 1951, in Indianapolis; and he preceded her in death Feb. 2, 1998.
She was a homemaker and owned and operated Red Bird Beauty Shop in Greenwood for many years.
She formerly was a member of Smith Valley United Methodist Church in Greenwood.
She enjoyed quilting, sewing and playing cards.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include a son, David Wilkerson (Karen) of Greenwood; a daughter, Anna Jo Condon (Daniel) of Trafalgar; grandchildren, Nathan Wilkerson of Carmel, Natalee Cooney (Jeff) of Chicago, Matthew Condon of Trafalgar and Sarah Pardee (Rick) of Taylors, S.C.; and one great-granddaughter, Svéa Pardee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Doyle Mitchell and Burley Mitchell; and a sister, Lemern Coyle.
The Rev. Rick Pardee will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Thursday at Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle Church, 2189 Burton Lane in Martinsville. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
