Ann Whitelock Allin/Allen was born on 16 September 1836 in Pickering, Yorkshire North Riding, England. She was the daughter of John Whitelock and Catherine Foster. Ann's mother died from breast cancer at the age of 39, and the family immigrated to Canada about three years later.
In December 1857, Ann married Richard Allin/Allen. They made their home in Dereham Centre, with her brother and his family living on one side of them, and her father and unmarried siblings living on the other. Together, Richard and Ann had five known children: Mary Catherine (1860-1891), John Wesley (1864-1864), George (1865-1939), Hiram (1867-1947) and Jesse (1869-1919). The family were faithful Christians and made their living through farming.
Sadly, Ann contracted the same disease that had killed her mother, and she died from breast cancer on 24 January 1887. She was only 51 years old. Her sister Mary was also taken by this disease, at the age of 38.
Ann was buried alongside her son John in Old Delmer Cemetery in Oxford, Ontario, Canada. Her husband joined her there twelve years later, in 1899.
