--REDDING, Cal., Monday, Oct. 7. – Edmond A. Brouillaid [sic], 36, died here today from Spanish influenza. Twenty-two cases of the disease have been reported to the health authorities in this city.

E. A. Brouillard died at his home in Redding Sunday from influenza. Mr. Brouillard is supposed to have contracted the disease in San Francisco where he had gone some three weeks ago with his wife to have their baby treated by a specialist. He had apparently recovered from the disease, but had gone to work too soon and contracted pneumonia.

Mr. Brouillard was 37 years old and is survived by his wife and one child. The funeral was held in Redding Tuesday at 2 o'clock.

Edmond married first in Shasta Co. on February 26, 1910, Josephine Anna Fleming, born in Oregon, 1890, daughter of Robert M. Fleming, born 1832 Tennessee, and Kate Rummet, born 1857 Iowa.

He married second in Shasta Co. on September 8, 1917, Lottie R. Donaldson, born in California in 1897, daughter of James H. Donaldson.

He worked in the home laundry business with his brother, Camille.

Edmond had registered for the WWI draft on September 11, 1918 and died a month later. The Spanish Flu was a world wide pandemic which killed thousands.

The couple's only child, daughter, Pearl Marguerite (aka Elizabeth) Brouillard, was born August 12, 1918; and died October 21, 1918; two weeks after her father.

Edmond's parents were Charles Brouillard and Genevieve LaBel (La Belle) of Bouhet, a small village 15 miles (25km) from the city of La Rochelle on the west coast of France.
