Born July 16, 1899, in Mason County to George Alfred and Susannah C. Furrer Athey, he married Margarette E. Sullivan on Jan. 2, 1923, in Peoria. She died June 29, 1992.
Two brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Lila Jeanne Eichelberger of Champaign; and two sisters, Fern Tomlin of Easton and Grace Dawson of Rancho Mirage, Calif.
A retired farmer, he was a charter member of the Mason County Farm Bureau.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Easton Park Board, Leveldale School Board and was a charter member of Pennsylvania Lake Telephone Co.
Burial will be in Easton Cemetery.
