Raymond Clay Mitchell, Sr., 78, of Stamping Ground died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007. He was the husband of Marthalene Bailey Mitchell. He was born in North Middletown on Sept. 5, 1928 to the late Clarence and Elizabeth Phillips Mitchell. He worked for Rexroth, served in the Army during World War II and was a member of New Columbus Baptist Church. Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Ray Mitchell Jr., of Richmond, and Scott (Jennifer) Mitchell, of Stamping Ground; four daughters, Jackie, Bonnie, Gail and Charlotte; two sisters, Mary Puckett and Aldie Brockman; and a number of grandchildren, including Zachary, Cara, Luke, Ben and Clay. Services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 at Tucker, Yo-cum & Wilson Funeral Home with Brad Vincent officiating. Burial was in Georgetown Cemtery. Casket bearers were Scott Mitchell, Zachary Mitchell, Luke Mitchell, Ben Mitchell, Dennis Frommeyer, Bruce Harrison and Jim Davis.
