Walter worked for Wells & Richardson in Burlington before moving to New York to work as a traveling salesman . Walter died in the Johnstown Flood. He was interred in Lakeview Cemetery on June 14,1889.
The Burlington Free Press (Burlington, Vermont) January 16, 1889: "Mr. Walter F. Dow will leave New York today for an extended trip through the West, returning about the first of June."
