These are the original headstones. They are displayed on the front of the Murray City Cemetery Offices because John Benbow was the first person to be buried in this cemetery.

John Benbow.
He had perfect trust in the Prophet and apostles. When they needed money to publish the Book of Mormon, he and his wife Jane Holmes gave it to them.

When the Prophet was falsely arrested, he gave all his holdings.

When President Brigham Young called for every Ward in the Church to provide teams, wagon and driver to go to the Missouri River and transport Saints to Zion, he was one who filled this request every year for six years. Each trip took six months.

He irrigated, farmed then harvested his hay and grain with a scythe that he would feed his tried teams through the winter to prepare for the next summers journey. He lived only six years after this strenuous labor. He fathered but one daughter, who mothered posterity of faithful Latte Day Saints.

This is the testimony, last of all, which we give Him: That He Lives!” D. &. C. 76:22.

Father - John Benbow
Born Grenden, Herefordshire, England April 1, 1800. Died May 12 1874.

Mother - Rosetta W. Benbow.
Born Hartford, Conn. Sept. 1, 1820. Died Mar. 17, 1894.

Daughter Isabella Markham Benbow married to Jonas Erekson.

Parents of John Benbow Erekson married Mary Oberlander. Parents of Reid Benbox Erekson - Arthur B. Erekson - John Arion Erekson.

Parents of William Benbow Erekson married Esther Marie Young. Parents of Zelph Young Erekson - William Shirley Erekson - Irma Marie Erekson Holt - Edward Benbow Erekson - Alma Owen Erekson.
