Alfred Clarke, age 85, died October 4 in Princeton Medical Center.
Born in Spondon, England, he came to the U.S. when he was 18 years old. In Princeton he was regarded as the last of the ole-time English butlers.
Surviving are a son, Roger Clarke of Rochester, N. Y., two daughters, Grace Clarke of New York and Mrs. Stella Stewart of Harbourton, with whom he resided eight years; two brothers, Percy of Palm Beach, Fla. and tom Clarke of England, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Pennington. Rev. Walter R. Coats officiated and burial was in Harbourton cemetery.
