Mrs. Otto Erdman died at St. Joseph's Hospital at Marshfield Saturday night just before midnight. The remains were brought here Sunday morning and the funeral took place from the Catholic church at 10 a.m., interment taking place in the Mound Cemetery Tuesday.
Mrs. Erdman has been a sufferer for nearly a year. She was confined to her bed Oct. 4th of last year, and from that time on has been an invalid. She has undergone five operations, three of them very serious ones. She was taken to the hospital at Marshfield Feb. 21st, of the present year, after which these operations took place. The cause of her suffering was tuberculosis of the bone of her right lower limb. It will be remembered that not long ago her husband suffered the very sensitive operation of a transfusion of blood from his arteries to her veins. This was supposed to be of great value. It was, for the time being, and hopes of her recovery were encouraging. Later it was found imperative that the limb should be amputated which was done, and it was within five days after this operations that death occurred. The direct cause of death is given as a general weakness of the tissues of the body, unable to withstand the strain for which she had been called on to undergo.
Mary Hahn was born in Wood County on June 3, 1885, and has lived here the whole of her life. In fact, she has never been out of the county in her life. She is the daughter of Peter Hahn, whose wife preceded the daughter years ago, and it is beside her that the remains were laid. She was married to Otto Erdman Oct. 12, 1903, and to this union four children resulted: Elma, Laura, Gilbert and Clarence, who with the father and husband are left to mourn the untimely death.
