Georgene B. Peterson, 94, formerly of Pocahontas, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, Neb.

Georgene Bernice Fry was born March 7, 1919, at Geddes, S.D. She was the daughter of Fred and Elsie (Rosacker) Fry. She attended schools in Geddes until 1935 when she moved with her family to Pocahontas. In 1936, she graduated from Pocahontas High School. On Feb. 24, 1947, Georgene married Ted Peterson at Fort Dodge. The couple settled near Pocahontas where they farmed. In 1978, they retired and moved into Pocahontas. Ted passed away in 1992. Georgene continued to make her home in Pocahontas until 2009 when she moved to Bellevue, Neb., to be near her daughter.

Georgene was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church and the UMW.

Survivors include her son, daughter, four grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. Georgene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted; and sisters, Arlene McLain, Wilma King and Dorothy Rude.
