Mrs. F. R. Holcomb Dies In Fullerton

FULLERTON, July 8 — Mrs. F. R. Holcomb, 88 years, wife of the Rev. F. R. Holcomb, retired Methodist minister of Fullerton, and one of the earliest of Orange county pioneers, died early yesterday at the family home, 202 East Commonwealth avenue, this city. Mrs. Holcomb came to Fullerton with her family from Iowa 38 years ago, residence being established at that time on a ranch between this city and Anaheim. The Rev. Holcomb founded the First Methodist church in Fullerton and for a number of years served as its pastor. The family later moved to the present home in the city. Other survivors include the husband, the Rev. F. R. Holcomb: two step-daughters. Mrs Annie Gardner, of Burbank, and Mrs. Mary Case, of Orange; two daughters Mrs. Hattie Drake, of Fullerton and Mrs. Allie Garnes, of Iowa; two sons, Charles G. Shepard, of Los Angeles and Paul Shepard, of Florida; two sisters, Mrs. Hanna Shepard and Mrs. Eliza Barrows*, both of Fullerton, and a step-son, C. E. Holcomb, of Chino. The body is in charge of the J. E. Seale undertaking parlors of this city. Funeral services are to be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the First Methodist church of this city.
