Mrs. Louise Barthels, 88, of Mishicot Village, died Friday night at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital Extended Care Unit. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Tuesday at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mishicot, the Rev. Hubert Kesting, officiating. Burial will be in Mishicot Public Cemetery.
Mrs. Barthels, nee Louise Wolter, was born in the Town of Newton, June 15, 1879. a daughter of the late Jacob and Augusta Wilda Wolter. She was married May 25, 1909 to George Barthels at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc after which they settled on a farm in the Town of Mishicot. The couple retired to the Village in 1950. Her husband preceded her in death in 1960. She was a member of St. Peter congregation and a charter member of its Ladies Bible Hour.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Elsie) Lorenz of Mishicot; two sons, the Rev. George Barthels of Sleepy Eye, Minn., and Oscar on the home farm on Rt. 2, Two Rivers; 19 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Two sisters, a brother and a grandchild preceded her in death.
Friends may call at Lambert Funeral Home, Mishicot, after 3 pm Monday until 11:30 am Tuesday when the casket will be taken to the church where the body will lie in states until the time of services.
