Mrs. Richard O. (Eva R.) Dowdell, age 56, 605 Elm St., died unexpectedly Monday evening at her home.
Born Sept. 9, 1916 at Gary, she was the daughter of Oscar and Mabel (Thineman) Grass. On Dec. 8, 1935 at Plymouth, she was married to Richard O. Dowdell, who survives.
Mrs. Dowdell had been a resident in this city for 55 years, coming from Washington Township.
Surviving besides the husband are two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Kay L.) Omo and Miss Margaret E. Dowdell, at home; two sons, Richard E. and Kenneth L., both at home; two brothers, Lee and Richard Grass, both of Valparaiso; three sisters, Mrs. George (Eileen) Martin, Lafayette, Mrs. Max (Erma) Bessler, Valparaiso, and Mrs. Frank (Maralou) Taylor, Littleton, Colo.; and her mother, Mrs. Mabel Grass, Valparaiso.
She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Margaret.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bartholomew Funeral home with the Rev. Dr. John Sayre, United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Family requests that memorials be sent to the Leukemia Foundation.
